Implant-retained dentures

All-on-4 dentures

These dentures are designed for both the upper and lower jaw (upper or lower dentures) on 4 implants in patients who wish to have fixed dentures in the mouth. The patient cannot remove them. Only a professional can do so. A bar is integrated directly into the dentures, which is then screwed onto the implants. The dentures are fully supported by the implants. In the upper jaw, the dentures slightly compress the gum to avoid whistling when the patient speaks.

This option offers the greatest stability and is the least bulky in the mouth.

It’s also possible to get an immediate loading in All-on-4 dentures, i.e. the patient leaves with temporary fixed dentures the same day the implants are placed.

Paris bar dentures

These dentures are designed for the lower jaw (lower dentures only) on a minimum of 4 implants. A bar is installed on the implants. A double structure is usually made inside the dentures. The dentures are fixed, but removable by the patient and are supported entirely on the bar, so there is no contact with the gums. This option allows for easy cleaning and soaking of the dentures while still having the advantages of fixed dentures.

Rebourke bar dentures

These dentures are usually designed for the upper jaw (upper denture) on a minimum of 4 implants. A bar is installed on the implants. A double structure is made inside the dentures. The dentures are inserted by friction and a latch is used on each side to immobilise them. To remove the dentures, simply unfasten the latches.

These dentures are supported partly by both the bar and the gums. It covers only a portion of the palate with a metallic finish. This option allows for easy cleaning and soaking of the dentures while still having the advantages of fixed dentures.

Dentures with Locator attachments

These dentures are designed for both the upper and lower jaw (upper or lower dentures) on a minimum of 2 implants. 3 or 4 implants are preferable to avoid front to back tilting of the dentures.

Locator abutments are installed on the implants. Housings and nylons are installed inside the dentures to allow
their retention. The dentures are supported by the implants and the posterior part of the gum. The gums cover only a part of the palate. This option allows for easy cleaning of the dentures, doesn’t require a bar in the mouth and is less expensive.

It is important to change the dentures’ nylon annually to avoid premature wear of the abutments that protrude from the gums. If the abutments wear out, they will have to be replaced.

Dentures with spherical attachments

These dentures are usually designed for the lower jaw (lower dentures) on a minimum of 2 implants. 3 or 4 implants are preferable to avoid front to back tilting of the dentures.

Partial dentures on implants

These dentures are used when several posterior teeth are missing and the patient wants sturdier partial dentures. In some cases, the metal clasps can be eliminated. The implants are placed by the surgeon in the area of the premolars, one on each side.

Dentures maintenance

I will be happy to discuss your available options according to your expectations and needs as well as your mouth’s morphology.

Maintenance varies depending on the type of dentures chosen. Adjuvants such as the Waterpik, the single-tuft brush, the interdental brush, the tongue scraper or the Easythread floss can improve oral hygiene and ease access to hard to reach areas of the mouth.

Cleaning the tongue with a soft bristle brush or tongue scraper will remove a considerable amount of bacteria. The tongue’s texture holds bacteria in place.
